Palitana, a city in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district, has become the world’s first to outlaw the sale of meat. Local authorities have enacted regulations prohibiting the killing, selling, and transportation of animals for meat. This historic decision follows protests by Jain monks demanding the closure of butcher shops in the city. The ban is expected to be implemented in other parts of Gujarat soon.
