A Pakistani national, Asif Merchant, has been arrested for allegedly plotting to assassinate former President Donald Trump and other U.S. officials. Merchant, with ties to Iran, reportedly planned protests as diversions while attempting to hire hitmen. He was apprehended before leaving the U.S. on July 12, 2024.
