Manika Batra is one of the table tennis players that shined at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. The star paddler impressed everyone with her performance and showed a lot of promise. However, she has fallen into controversy as she refused to seek the help of the national coach.
Manika Batra refused to take the help of national coach Soumyadeep Roy at the Olympics. Manika has been training with her personal coach Sanmay Paranjape. Although Sanmay was given access to travel with Manika to Olympics, he does not have the accreditation to enter the field of play.
Manika was upset with the same and she protested by not seeking help from a national coach or the team to assist her in the field. Now, the Table Tennis Federation is acting seriously on her. The federation decided to send a show-cause notice to Manika.
The federation argues that Manika was aware of the fact that her personal coach will not get the field of play access even before she boarded the flight to Tokyo.
Manika Batra will have 10 days to respond to the show-cause notice. Depending on her response, the federation will take a final call.
Manika Batra had a great time at the Tokyo Olympics. She had made history by reaching the round of 32.
