The Indian men’s hockey team has scripted history in the Tokyo Olympics. After 41 years of long wait, the hockey team won a medal and India is the only and successful nation to have 12 Olympics medals in hockey sport which is another feat.
In the Bronze medal match, India played against Germany but it was a close contest. As the match was almost coming to an end when India had a clear edge over Germans with 5-4 goals, the Germans received a penalty corner at 58th minute. The Indian camp was in panic but one man was determined to save the goal and he is goalkeeper Sreejesh.
The ball was passed and Sreejesh blocked the ball from going towards the goal post. The whistle from the umpire’s mouth blew and that’s it India won the match.
Sreejesh is the hero of the hockey team. He has saved considerable goals in crucial matches for the team and played an important role. “Let me smile now,” tweeted Sreejesh who was seen celebrating at the conclusion of the match.
After the match Sreejesh bowed down before the goal post and this picture of him is going viral on social media. This picture is getting huge likes and former hockey players are absolutely delighted by this gesture.
