The second Test between England and India has moved on to day five and the match is evenly balanced. At the stumps of day four, India’s scorecard is at 181 runs for the loss of six wickets and the visitors are leading by 154 runs. If India can add another hundred runs, they will have a good chance to defend the total.
However, at the 35th over a strange incident took place as England players tried to tamper the ball. Mark Wood and Rory Burns handled the ball with the foot and the spike on one of the players’ shoes touched the ball. The visuals are caught on camera and former Indian players Virender Sehwag, Akash Chopra and a few more tweeted the pictures regarding the same.
But England player Stuart Broad defended his teammates. “Depends If it was damaged? Exactly the same if it was hit into the stands. If it didn’t make a mark, why change it?” tweeted Broad.
The ICC has to take a call on this. The match referee, on field umpires will give their feedback on this.
