After recording its best-ever figures in the medal tally of the Olympics earlier this month, India is continuing its form in the Paralympics as well. Team India’s Table Tennis player Bhavina Patel stormed into the finals of women’s singles and assured a Silver medal for our country.
In the semi-final match held earlier today, Bhavina beat World No:3 Zhang Miao of China with a score of 3-2. She will now face World No:1 Ying Zhou of China tomorrow in the Gold Medal match. Bhavina now became the first Indian Table Tennis player to qualify for the finals of the Paralympics.
If Bhavina secures a Gold Medal, she will become the first Indian woman to clinch a gold in either Olympics and Paralympics. The entire country is hoping for her victory tomorrow so that she can make history and inspire millions of women in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Bhavina for her semi-final victory by tweeting, “Congratulations Bhavina Patel! You played excellently. The entire nation is praying for your success and will be cheering for you tomorrow. Give your best and play without any pressure. Your accomplishments inspire the entire nation.”
