Indian Premier League is all set to have new colors next season. The 2022 edition will feature two new teams, expanding the total teams to 10. BCCI has set the base price for bidding to Rs. 2000 crores. Thus, the board is expecting Rs. 5000 crore earnings through team biddings.
“Any company can buy the bid document paying Rs 75 crore. Earlier top brass was thinking about keeping the base price for two new teams at Rs 1700 crore but later it was decided to keep the base price at Rs 2000 crore,” said a senior official of BCCI to the PTI.
“The BCCI is expecting anything in the range of 5000 crores if not more. There will be 74 IPL games next season and it’s a win-win situation for everyone,” the source further added.
Apparently, BCCI will only allow the companies with an annual turnover of more than Rs. 3000 crore for bidding. Ahmedabad, Pune, and Lucknow are in contention for the two new franchises.
