Team India’s opener Rohit Sharma is continuing his supreme form in the ongoing Test series against England. He is currently the top scorer for India in the series. Rohit has made 368 runs so far with an average of 52.57. There is a century and two half-centuries under his belt as well.
Rohit scored his maiden overseas century the other day. His crucial knock of 127 (256 balls) helped India in getting a lead in the second innings of the game. He was supported well by Chateshwar Pujara, who scored 61 off 127 balls.
With this century, Rohit added multiple records on his hat. They are as follows:
Rohit Sharma has now hit the most international hundreds in England than any other Indian batsman. He made nine centuries so far in England and surpassed the record of Rahul Dravid, who has eight tons under his belt. Interestingly, eight of Rohit’s nine centuries came since the beginning of 2018. Australian legend Donald Bradman has the most hundreds (11) in England than any other visiting batsman in the world.
Rohit is the first visiting cricketer to score centuries across three formats while opening in England. Overall, he is the second visiting cricketer, after KL Rahul, to achieve this feat.
Rohit also completed 3000 runs in the Test Cricket the other day.
The star opener also crossed 15000 international runs across all the formats and is the eighth Indian player to achieve the feat.
Rohit also completed 11,000 runs as an opener across all the formats of the game.
With yesterday’s knock, Rohit completed 1000 runs mark across all formats of the game in 2021. He also crossed the 2000-run mark in England now.
Rohit Sharma is the ninth Indian to score a century at the Oval. The other players who achieved this feat are Vijay Merchant (1946), Sunil Gavaskar (1979), Ravi Shastri (1990), Kapil Dev (1990), Rahul Dravid (2006, 2011), Anil Kumble (2007), Rishab Pant (2018), and KL Rahul (2018).
