Former India captain MS Dhoni spoke of his plans for his future. He said that as a Chennai Super Kings player, he’s hopeful to return to Chepauk and play his final game in Chennai for the three-time IPL champions.
Yesterday, Dhoni went live on CSK’s official YouTube page along with Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir and Shardul Thakur. The group interacted with fans and one fan asked Dhoni the reason for choosing August 15 to announce his retirement from international cricket. In reply, Dhoni said that he wishes to meet his fans and hopes to play his last game in Chennai.
“It can’t be a better day than that (15th August)”. When a fan expressed her disappointment for not being able to attend the wicketkeeper-batter’s farewell game, Dhoni said “when it comes to the farewell, you can always come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. You will still get that opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, we’ll come to Chennai and will play my last game over there and I can meet all my fans”.
His comments also suggested that he is likely to take the field for CSK in next year’s IPL. The veteran wicket-keeper has managed to lead CSK to the playoffs for the 11th time in IPL. After finishing 7th last season, Dhoni-led CSK became the first team to seal a playoffs berth this season.
