Former cricketer and the current chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja said that the board will get a blank cheque if Pakistan manages to beat India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The arch-rivals will play against each other on October 24.
Speaking in a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Ramiz Raja said, “PCB runs 50 per cent on the funds of ICC. 90 per cent of the funding to ICC comes from India. I’m afraid that if India stopped funding ICC, then PCB might collapse because PCB gives zero per cent funding to ICC. I’m determined to make Pakistan cricket strong.”
“One strong investor told me that a blank cheque is ready for the PCB if Pakistan beats India in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” he further added.
Raja opined that the best cricket team and best cricket economy are two big challenges. “If our cricket economy is strong, we won’t be used and then binned by teams like England and New Zealand,” stated Raja.
The New Zealand Cricket team abandoned their Pakistan tour last month due to security concerns. England Cricket team cancelled their upcoming tour of Pakistan for the same reason.
