The D-day is here. Today is the final day of the Indian Premier League. Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are prepping up for this huge clash which will be held at the Dubai International Stadium. Both teams have contrasting journeys to this mega final.
MS Dhoni-led CSK has been one of the most consistent teams in the history of the league. After putting up a dismal show in the 2020 season, CSK came back strong in this edition. It has been dominant right from the start of the tournament and ended up in the second position on the points table.
On the flip side, the journey of Eoin Morgan’s KKR has been quite interesting. It was inconsistent during the first leg of the league but emerged as one of the most successful teams in the second leg of the tournament. With 7 wins in 14 matches, KKR ended up in the fourth position of the points table. It has been very dominant in the playoffs too as it defeated mighty RCB and table-toppers Delhi to reach the final.
This is the ninth time CSK is playing a final. That makes it the most consistent team in the history of the tournament. Chennai fans are eagerly waiting to see their skipper hold the trophy once again. The last time it won the trophy was in 2018.
KKR played finals in 2012 and 2014 and ended up winning the trophy both times. It has to be seen if they repeat the history this time as well.
This is also the first time where two World-Cup winning captains are clashing in an IPL final. In many ways, this final promises to a firecracker.
