T20 WC: India Tastes First Victory Against Afganisthan

Finally, Team India got its first win in the ongoing T20 World Cup. After losing its first two games against Pakistan and New Zealand respectively, India has now won its third league match against Afghanistan. A brilliant batting and bowling display ensured India a massive victory by 66 runs.

Once again, Indian captain Virat Kohli lost the toss and was asked to bat first. This is the third time India batted first in the tournament. Openers Rohit Sharma (74) and KL Rahul (69) gave a dream start to the team by smacking the ball right from the first over.

As a result, India got a huge score of 53 runs in the powerplay. The duo maintained momentum even after the powerplay. In the process, they made the highest first-wicket partnership in the tournament. After making a 140-run partnership, Rohit Sharma got dismissed. Soon, even KL Rahul got out as well. But Rishab Pant (27) and Hardik Pandya (35) carried the momentum and helped India in getting a huge total of 210/2 in 20 overs.

It was a huge task for the Afghan batters to chase a target of 211 runs. Moreover, Indian bowlers bowled tight and never allowed the opponents to score big. They kept taking wickets in regular intervals. As a result, Afghanistan managed to score 144/7 in 20 overs.
