Kohli Becomes Emotional After His Final T20I Game As A Captain

Published by

Last night’s match against Namibia was an important game for captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri. While it is the final game as a T20I captain for Kohli, it also happened to be Shastri’s last assignment as the coach. Both of them have bid adieu to their respective positions now.

India had a dominant victory by nine wickets in this game. While Jadeja and Ashwin shined on the bowling front, it was Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul who took care on the batting front. Virat Kohli had a smile on his face after the game.

Speaking in the post-match interview, Virat Kohli said that it is relieving after his last match as a captain. As stated by Cricbuzz, Kohli said, “It’s been an honour but things need to be kept at the right perspective. I felt this was the right time to manage my workload.”

“It’s been six or seven years of heavy workload and there is a lot of pressure. The guys have been fantastic, I know we haven’t got the results here but we have played some really good cricket. The guys have really made my work easier,” he added.

Kohli also thanked Ravi Shastri and all the other coaching staff. “They have done a great job over the years, creating such a wonderful environment for the players.”

Kohli led India in 50 T20Is and won 30 of them. The team was lost in 16 matches under his leadership. Two matches were abandoned and India won the rest of the two matches through Super Overs.

Kohli took to social media to share his feelings. “Together as one, we set out to achieve our goal. Unfortunately, we fell short and no one is more disappointed than us as a side. The support from all of you has been fantastic and we are grateful for it all. We will aim to come back stronger and put our best foot forward. Jai Hind,” he tweeted.
