Former Australia cricketer and the greatest leg-spinner of all-time, Shane Warne, has died, aged 52.
“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” Warne’s management confirmed in a statement to Australian media outlet Fox Sports.
Warne is widely considered one of the greatest bowlers in cricket history. He holds the record of Most consecutive four wickets in an ODI innings . He took 4 wickets in 3 consecutive ODI innings.
Shane Warne is the second bowler after Muthaiyya Muralidharan (Srilanka) to have Most ten-wickets in a Test match. Shane Warne taken 10 times 10 wickets in a Test match. But Muthaiyya Muralidharan has taken 22 times .
On 26 Dec 2006, Shane Warne became 2nd fastest bowler to take 700 wickets in Test Career. He completed this milestone in his 144th Test match against England At Melbourne.
His words – “As a spinner you need to adjust your pace accordingly on different pitches, so that you can extract the maximum turn from it” – still leaves him a true champion spinner.
