Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored a stunning century in the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Mohali. This is Jadeja’s second hundred in Test cricket and he made an impactful innings thereby putting team India in a commanding position.
However, a controversy erupted with Jadeja’s score. Jadeja was at 175 and skipper Rohit Sharma declared India’s innings at 574 runs for the loss of eight wickets. This decision of Rohit Sharma to declare the innings shocked many as Jadeja could have easily scored his first double hundred in another couple of overs.
This declaration of Rohit Sharma brought back the memories of 2004 when Rahul Dravid declared India’s innings when master blaster Sachin Tendulkar was batting at 198 runs in the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.
Jadeja fans are seriously upset that Rohit Sharma denied a Test double hundred to the all-rounder.
Meanwhile after declaration, Sri Lanka was put on to bat and they scored 108 runs losing four wickets by the end of the day. The Lankans are trailing by 466 runs and they will have to bat throughout the day on day three.
