#IPL: Dhoni Hands Over CSK’s Captaincy To Jadeja

Published by

In what could be the biggest breaking news, former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni has handed over the captaincy of IPL team, Chennai Super Kings to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. This news was officially announced by the CSK franchise.

In a press statement, CSK added that Jadeja has been the integral part of Chennai team from 2012 and he is just the third player to captain the team after Dhoni and Suresh Raina. None expected this would happen while yellow lovers thought Dhoni would lead the side for another two seasons.

Incidentally, before the mega auction held in February, Dhoni informed the team management not to retain him for a higher price. Accordingly the CSK franchise retained Jadeja for Rs 16 crore which is the highest for any player.

But then Dhoni will be playing a crucial role in the CSK franchise as he has been with it since IPL’s inception. Dhoni and CSK are inseparable.

And this year’s IPL is going to be a whole new level of T20 cricket with the addition of two new franchises. The 2022 IPL is just two days and in the first match, CSK will play against Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders.
