After putting up a disastrous show last season, Sunrisers Hyderabad is continuing the same form this season as well.
With an unbalanced side, the team has lost its first two games in IPL 2022. In the match held against Lucknow Super Giants last night, SRH lost by 12 runs and remained in the last position on the points table.
After winning the toss, Kane Williamson chose to bowl first. SRH got a good start as it managed to scalp three wickets of LSG inside the powerplay. However, Deepak Hooda (51) and KL Rahul’s (68) key partnership settled things for Lucknow. As a result, they managed to score a good total of 169 runs in 20 overs.
Chasing 170 while batting second is not a huge task for any team, except for SRH. Once again, openers Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson have failed to create any impact at the top. Though Rahul Tripathi (44) and Nicholas Pooran (34) have put up good performances, they couldn’t stay till the end and take their side to the victory shores.
As a result, SRH managed to score only 157/9 in 20 overs. Avesh Khan (4/24) and Jason Holder (3/34) were excellent with the ball for LSG.
SRH will play its next game against Chennai Super Kings on April 9. It has to be seen if they manage to open their points tally in that game.
