IPL’s second most successful franchise Mumbai Indians has tasted their sixth straight defeat in the on-going tournament. In today’s match the Mumbai team clashed with Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) and even though Rohit Sharma was lucky to win the toss, things did not go Mumbai’s way.
KLRahul’s LSG was put on to bat and the skipper scored a superb century. In 60 balls, Rahul smashed 103 runs with nine fours and five sixes. Rahul was decently supported by Quinton De Kock and Manish Pandey. In the end LSG put up a total of 199 runs in their 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians received a huge setback with skipper Rohit Sharma getting out cheaply for just six runs. Star batsmen like Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard scored 20s and 30s but they got out with no big score.
LSG’s Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets and other bowlers picked up one wicket each. Mumbai Indians fell short of 18 runs and conceded their six defeat of the tournament.
For Rohit Sharma’s team, the chances of reaching the Play-Offs are very marginal from now and they have to win every match and keep up the net run-rate ticking to be in the race.
