Vintage MS Dhoni is back but no hopes on CSK!

Published by

It has been almost two years since he retired from international cricket. The only competitive tournament he plays right now is the Indian Premier League. Whenever we think he is done, he comes up with a sensational performance and proves that his story is not done yet. You might know whom we are talking about.

Yes, it is Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni has been showing some sparks in this edition of the IPL. He made a half-century in the first match. However, fans were eagerly waiting to see him in their favourite role, The Finisher.

Dhoni finally gave that kind of a knock last night against Mumbai Indians. While chasing a target of 156, Dhoni’s team Chennai Super Kings needed 17 off the last over. Jaydev Unadkat had the ball in hand. Dwaine Pretorius and MS Dhoni are on the crease.

On the first ball, Pretorius got out. On the second ball, new batter Dwayne Bravo took a single. The equation is now 16 runs from 4 balls. On the third ball and fourth ball, Dhoni had hit a six and a four respectively. The entire stadium erupted with joy.

The equation came down to 6 runs in 2 balls. There is tension all around. But Dhoni is as calm as ever. He hit the fifth ball for two runs and hit a boundary off the last ball. Thus, he gave a last-ball victory to CSK and brought back vintage Dhoni in style.

The entire cricketing world started heaping praises on Dhoni and he started trending all over social media. We are waiting to witness many such moments in the league.

However, there are no hopes on CSK in the current edition. In the most shocking manner, the team is performing badly this season. In IPL 2022, Chennai Super Kings’ chances of qualifying for the playoffs in this IPL are next to impossible.

By this, the most successful team CSK who won the IPL cup four times is facing a hard time in IPL 2022.

Top of all, to qualify for the playoffs of this season, Chennai Super Kings need a minimum of seven victories more.

Though qualifying for playoffs is an unlikely scenario for CSK, still, there is hope for its fans, as CSK won the 2010 cup, even when it had gone through the same agony by losing the first four matches.

So let’s wait and see whether the 2010 scene will repeat or not.
