No DRS: Power Crisis Hits IPL Match

Published by

The country is witnessing a coal and electricity crisis and this has hit the on-going IPL too. On Thursday Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians clashed at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium. Due to electricity problems at the stadium, the Decision Review System (DRS) was not made available.

As a result of the ‘power’ crisis, the CSK team paid the price for batting first. Opener Devon Conway departed on the first ball he faced. Conway was caught leg before by Daniel Sams and immediately CSK received similar shock. Second down batter Robin Uttappa was given out leg before in Bumrah’s bowling.

With DRS not being available, the social media went haywire. Cricket fans and journalists slammed the BCCI for providing poor basic facilities despite the IPL being one of the richest sporting events in the world.

Meanwhile CSK fans are shattered because this is a crucial match for them and the result of this match depends on CSK’s chances of qualifying for PlayOffs. CSK is currently second from bottom in the points table and they need a miracle to turn things around.
