Superstar cricketer Virat Kohli who is running high as he got back to form in the much-hyped T20 World Cup tournament is now upset for a reason. Not because of the match they have lost to South Africa, but then, someone has recorded his hotel room, giving a tour of what he carries and uses. And the cricketer felt that invasion of privacy for the sake of entertainment is unethical.
Sharing the video being circulated on the internet, Virat Kohli stated that he felt paranoid about his privacy as his own hotel room was shot without him having any knowledge of it. Inside the video, one could notice the number of shoes the legendary Indian cricketer carries, his t-shirts, his collection of spects, protein powders, deodorants and much more.
In a statement, Kohli said, “I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy. If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment”.
While some fans are enjoying the video, many are actually criticising the hotel staff guy who shot this video. Various celebs reacted to this, as the likes of heroine Urvashi Rautela wrote, “Absolutely!! Immoral, unscrupulous imagine they did same with a girl’s room”, and Parineeti Chopra commented, “OMFG. New level of low”. The likes of legendary cricketer David Warner took a dig at the hotel Crown Perth where the incident happened.
