Modern cricketing legend Virat Kohli achieved yet another remarkable record in his career. On the third day of the second Test between India and Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Kohli became the fastest batter to score 25000 runs in international cricket.
Previously, this record used to be under the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved the feat in 577 matches. On the flip side, Virat took just 549 matches to break Sachin’s record. Former Australian captain Rickey Ponting (588 games) is in third place. They are followed by Jacques Kallis (594), Kumar Sangakkara (608), and Mahela Jayawardene (701).
Kohli made 20 off 31 balls in the second innings of the test. He was stumped by Alex Carey in the bowling of Todd Murphy in the 19th over of the innings. India needed to chase 115 runs in the second innings to win the game. With the help of Chateshwar Pujara (31) and Srikar Bharat (23), Team India managed to score 118/4 and retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a lead of 2-0.
Meanwhile, fans and other cricketers are congratulating Kohli on this new record. In his career, Kohli scored 8131 runs in Tests (105 matches), 12809 runs in ODIs (271 matches), and 4008 runs in T20I cricket (115 matches).
