SA’s David Miller Breaks Silence After 2 Days

Published by

Two days after South Africa’s unbearable defeat to India in the T20 World Cup final, star batter David Miller is still struggling to come to terms with the loss. The Proteas had the game firmly in their hands, needing just 26 runs off the last 24 balls with six wickets in hand, but a stunning fightback from the Indian bowlers changed the whole thing.

In fact, SA’s star allrounder David Miller was on the way to steer a ball above and beyond the fence, but Surya Kumar Yadav took a stunning catch in what could be called as Catch of The Decade, and sent the batsman home. This changed the total face and result of the match. The 35 year old cricketer who currently plays for Gujarat Titans in the IPL, has gone silent ever since and finally shared his feelings on social media after two days. With allegations popping up that Surya Kumar Yadav touched the fence, Miller’s reaction became quite important on that, though we can’t alter any decision now.

Taking to his social media account, he shared: “I am gutted!! Really tough pill to swallow after what transpired 2 days ago. Words don’t explain how I am feeling. One thing I do know is how proud I am of this unit. This journey was an incredible one, with highs and lows throughout the entire month. We have endured pain, but I know this team has the resilience and will keep raising the bar”. Miller’s emotional reaction in the aftermath of the match, with the cricketer visibly distraught, has gone viral on social media, and now this reaction is adding to it.

The South African team had worked tirelessly to reach their first-ever T20 World Cup final, only to falter at the final hurdle, leaving them devastated. “It’s a tough pill to swallow,” Miller admitted in a candid interview. “We had the game in our hands, but just couldn’t get over the line. The loss is going to sting for a while.”

In another interview however, Miller added, “You have to give credit to India, they fought back brilliantly and deserved to win. But it doesn’t make it any easier to accept”. The T20 World Cup final loss is particularly painful for South Africa, who have never won a major ICC tournament.
