Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal are the only players retained by the RCB this year. As they decided not to retain the current captain, Faf du Plessis, reports of Virat becoming captain started floating in the media.
Meanwhile, the team’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, dropped a bomb in the hearts of RCB fans. Speaking to Jio Cinema, he said that the management hasn’t decided on the captain yet.
He said they are looking for options, and no final decision has been made. He added that they will have an open mindset while going into the auction.
Many players, like Rishab Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul, are now entering the mega auction. RCB might consider making one of them captain if they buy any of them.
They don’t want to stress Virat with captaincy again, so they want to let him be free to play his game. If RCB fails to get the desired captain material in the auction, they might reappoint Kohli as captain.
