IPL Auction History Created: Meet Costliest Player

The mega auction for the forthcoming season of IPL is underway and this has been a thoroughly entertaining session thus far. In this context, here’s a look at the all time record that has been created in the auction this year.

Rishab Pant has created history by becoming the most expensive player in the history of the league. He is sold to Lucknow for a whopping Rs 27 crore. This is the highest amount of money paid for a player in the league.

However, prior to Pant madness in the auction, Shreyas Iyer was briefly the costliest player in the league as he was sold to Punjab for Rs 26.75 crore. After an intense battle between Punjab and Delhi, Shreyas Iyer ended up getting sold for a mighty Rs 26.75 crore.

On a related note, Punjab had also sustained the Right To Match option to buy Arshdeep Singh for Rs 18 crores. They now have two of the biggest buys in the auction thus far. But it is Lucknow which has the costliest player in history in the form of Pant.
