India, It’s An Inspiring Win!

Published by

Team India registered an inspiring win in the first test against Australia in the prestigious Border – Gavaskar trophy 2024 which kicked off on Friday in Perth. Chasing a mammoth target of 534 runs, the hosts were never in the challenging pursuit as they were dismissed for 238 runs to hand over a huge victory with 295 runs.

This is one of the biggest victories for India down under and will join the list of famous victories akin to that of wins like Gabba 2021, Perth 2008, Adelaide 2008. What is more special with this victory is that it came after a demoralising home defeat against New Zealand last month when they were whitewashed by a visiting team for the first time in its test history.

Despite scoring a modest 150 runs in the first innings, India staged a spectacular comeback in the first test, thanks to the pace attack of Bumrah, Siraj and Rana who put on a tremendous show against the formidable batting attack of Kangaroos. Bumrah led from the front with a fifer.

In the second Innings, Indian batsmen stepped up to the task when it mattered the most and ensured an unassailable target with a score of 487/6, courtesy of tons from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli.

In reply, Australia were quickly reduced to 12/3 by the end of third day leaving too much for the remaining batters. On fourth day, Indian bowlers made sure that Australia won’t make any comeback in the game as they regularly chipped in with wickets when partnerships started to build. Bumrah once again showed his class as he took three wickets in the second innings. He won the man of the match award for his terrific performance with the ball.

The second test will commence on December 6th. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will join the team.
