IPL Mega Auction: 13-year-old Bihar Boy Vaibhav Suryavanshi Sold for 1.1 Cr

Indian Premier League (IPL) is a boon for local talent in the country. In the latest mega auction, the 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was sold to Rajasthan Royals for 1.1 Cr. The Bihar boy Vaibhav creates a record by becoming the youngest player to get picked in the IPL.

All it took for Vaibhav Suryavanshi to become a crorepati in a day is his century against Australia U-19 in Chennai. Vaibhav made headlines and caught everyone’s attention after scoring 104 of 62 deliveries in a Youth Test for India Under-19 against Australia U-19 in Chennai. The match took place in Chennai.

Even before this century, Vaibhav also stuck to headlines by making his Ranji debut at the age of 12. He is the youngest-ever to play in India’s premier First Class tournament. In an intense bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, RR picked him. Interestingly, Rahul Dravid who is working with RR will be mentoring Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

The left-hander’s century came in 58 balls, making it the fastest Youth Test hundred by an Indian and the second-fastest overall in the world.

The fun fact is that he was born in the year when India, under the leadership of MS Dhoni lifted the World Cup in 2011.
