IPL Founder Says CSK Fixed Umpires, Rigged Player Auctions

Published by

It is known that Chennai Super Kings which is arguably the most popular and famous IPL franchise was banned in 2016, 17 after being review guilt for spot fixing.

Now, a few more shocking details pertaining to the team were revealed by the founder of IPL, Lalit Modi who is no longer associated with the league.

In a light-shedding podcast with a popular YouTuber, Lalit Modi remarked that CSK’s former president Srinivasan was a menace to deal with.

“There was this time when CSK and its chief Srinivasan asked me to ensure no other team bids for English all-rounder Andrew Flintoff. They wanted to somehow sign the player in the auction and they wanted to rig the operation.” Lalit Modi said.

In the end, CSK acquired Flintoff for Rs 7.4 crore and coincidentally, he ended up flopping big time and this turned out to be a disastrous move for CSK.

Not stopping there Lalit Modi further accused CSK of even fixed umpires to favour them and this went on for a while.

Had these comments been made from a lower ranked official, then we could have taken them lightly. But the fact that the founder of IPL, Lalit Modi himself made such remarks gives a few points to ponder upon as doubts are being raised about CSK’s legacy and credibility now.
