BCCI Warns Senior Cricketer: Who Might It Be?

We are just five days away from the ICC Champions Trophy, this year’s biggest international cricket event. This will also be the first major tournament held after the BCCI implemented its new guidelines regarding travelling family members and staff.

According to the latest reports, a senior player had asked the BCCI if his family could be exempted from this rule. However, BCCI turned down his request stating that no player would be allowed to take their family members to the trophy.

This news made people wonder who that senior player was. The only senior players who regularly take their family members on international tours are Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Virat’s wife, Anushka Sharma, and Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, are often seen at the stadiums when India is playing abroad.

Now, netizens have opined that one of these two senior players might have requested that BCCI consider taking their families, considering their stardom and influence within the board.

According to BCCI’s rule, a player can be accompanied by his wife or family members for two weeks only if the tour is more than 45 days long. As the Champions Trophy lasts for just 20 days, BCCI decided not to allow wives and family members of cricketers to the tour.
