For those who don’t already know the IPL is held at an individual capacity by the IPL governing body, and it does not come under the jurisdiction of BCCI or regional cricket boards in India. Even the stadium where this IPL games are played or usually rented out by the concerned franchises.
On this matter, the latest update regarding the IPL games at the iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, is giving an interesting bit of information.
As revealed by the new chairman of Hyderabad cricket Association, Jagan Mohan Rao, in a file interview, SRH pays ₹1.5 crore rent per match to the Uppal Stadium. According to his statement, the HCA has no authority when it comes to conducting the games or monitoring the activities.
“Once we rent the stadium to SRH, the franchise is responsible for everything right from ticket sales to match logistics. We charge them, ₹1.5 crore rent per match and that’s about our duty. They will take care of the rest of the activities on their own.” He revealed.
Considering the fact that SRH plays 7 home games per season, it could perhaps be deducted that they pay HCA a rent of ₹10.5 crore in total per season.
