PBKS vs RR: First Loss for Punjab KIngs in IPL 2025

In the 18th game of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals tasted a victory against the Punjab Kings. RR won the game by 50 runs.

PBKS won the toss and decided to bowl first.

First Innings:
PBKS’s decision proved unlucky. Soon after RR took to batting, they went on an aggressive note in beating bowlers. The batsmen scored 205 runs in 20 overs. Jaiswal scored 67 runs, while Samson scored 38 runs. Riyan Parag scored 43 runs, and others contributed to a total score of 205 runs. Every single bowler from PBKS turned expensive. Their performance is not up to the mark.

Second Innings:
RR bowlers are also off to an aggressive start. Jofra Archer took two wickets in the first over. He took the wicket for the first ball itself. Shreyas Iyer, however, scored a six for the second ball but got dismissed in the same over. Priyansh departed for a duck. Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell built a partnership to chase the total. Wadhera even scored a half-century, but both got dismissed quickly, which added more pressure on other batsmen. Sandeep Sharma and Teekshana took two wickets each, while Archer took three. Sanju Samson’s captaincy is appreciable as he made sure to shift bowlers so that they consistently added pressure on PBKS batsmen.

In a nutshell:
Rajasthan Royals were in the 9th place on the points table. However, the victory in this game would boost their confidence. They won the last game as well. This victory is very special as they defended over 200 runs. On the flip side, this is the first loss for PBKS this season. They won their previous two games. Surprisingly, all the batsmen lost to pressure in this game, and they had to change their strategy. It is not their day, and team PBKS should return stronger in their next match. Also, RR must be consistent.
