Cricket Returns To The Olympics: 6 Teams To Participate!

Cricket will return to the Olympic Games for the first time in 128 years. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially confirmed that cricket has been inducted as one of the sports that will be held in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Six teams will participate in each of the men’s and women’s cricket events. A total of 90 players will take part in each event. The game will be conducted in the T20 format.

Along with cricket, squash, flag football, baseball/softball, and lacrosse have been included as new sports for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

T20 cricket will be played by over 100 countries across the world, which makes it challenging for teams to be in the final six that are eligible to participate in the tournament. As hosts, the USA may get direct entry into the Olympics.

It was also announced that the LA Olympics will feature a total of 351 medal events, 22 more than the Paris Olympics. Recently, Women’s Cricket was included in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. India secured the Gold Medal in those games. With men’s and women’s cricket included in the Olympics, fans are now hoping for India to win at least two medals for sure.
