Worker Steals Bike To Reach Home, Parcels It Back To Owner

Published by

The difficult lockdown times is leaving humans to do and see peculiar yet unprecedented things in life. And one among such vile news was when a tea-seller named Prashanth, hailing from Tamil Nadu did something unusual. He used to work at a tea shop in Sulur, Coimbatore and just like many migrants in lockdown, Prashanth was desperately trying to reach his home in Mayiladuthurai so that he can stay with his family.

As he was looking for ways to go home, Prashanth finds a bike parked outside a workshop in Sulur on 18 May. He decided to reach home by stealing the bike and therefore, rode to his hometown on someone else’s bike. He also took his wife and two children and drove around 200 km to his hometown.

And here in Coimbatore, the bike’s owner Suresh Kumar was searching for his missing bike day and night and also approached the police. However, cops said that they are busy with the COVID-19 prevention work and asked Suresh to go home as they would start the investigation only after the lockdown.⠀

But, Suresh was adamant and thought of searching for his bike from scratch. He also grabbed CCTV visuals from the area and it revealed Prashanth driving off with his bike. Suresh took the identities of the man with the help of some neighbours.

On the other hand, Prashanth learnt the news that the bike owner has identified him. To avoid falling into trouble, he decided to send the two-wheeler back to Suresh. On May 30, Suresh Kumar received a call from a parcel agency asking him to pick up a parcel in his name and pay Rs 1,400 upon delivery.

Suresh was surprised to see his stolen bike back and spent the Rs.1,400 Luggage and Packaging charges to get it back. He said, “Thank God I got the bike back in a very good condition. I was a huge handicap without the bike, especially after I reopened my workshop for business”. Later, Suresh also withdrew his police complaint.⠀
