Indian shuttler Jwala Gutta made headlines over her ambiguous and perplexing tweet on the Indian system by mentioning Indian athletes.
She shared a post that read: “Indian athletes don’t just have to fight their opponents to win at the Olympics. They’ve to fight the system, politics, finances, and sometimes their family too. Every medal whether gold or bronze makes it all that special.”
Pointing out the society stigmas that can create barriers for achievements, Jwala’s shared post also mentions Indian system and politics’ alleged biases. The post has received positive responses in the majority.
Jwala Gutta has always been outspoken with her frankness and earlier this week, she grabbed attention after receiving racial slurs in reply to an Instagram story she posted about Indian fencer Bhavani Devi. Now, her latest tweet on indian system has once again pulled her over the headlines.
Sharing the tweet, Jwala wrote “Read slowly and if you didn’t understand read again” as she emphasized the hidden meaning. The shuttler had earlier blamed the Indian system for the lack of improvement in badminton over the years.
“In each tournament, the Japanese field four to five pairs. Even in singles. We have Saina, Sindhu, Srikanth, Sai and nothing beyond them. What has been happening for the past ten years? We are nowhere near China or anyone,” she wrote.
