The novel coronavirus has taken so many innocent lives and the year 2020 has been the worst and severely unpleasant, leaving a big void among families with irreplaceable loses. Just like doctors and the police department, who are working round the clock for the welfare of the people, journalists are also risking their lives to gather and inform us with daily information on the corona.
The pandemic journalism is, in fact, an act of courage and hard work and unfortunately, a Hyderabad journalist passed away on Sunday after getting contracted with COVID-19. The 33-year-old Manoj worked for Telugu channel and he had been tested positive for the coronavirus a week ago. He was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital but lost the battle today.
Manoj and family reside in Madannapet and after he was tested positive, Manoj’s brother has also been tested positive and is undergoing treatment at Gandhi hospital. The doctor said that the journalist was suffering from bilateral pneumonitis and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). He was also diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis that paralyses all muscles including respiratory muscles.
The reports suggest that Manoj had also undergone thymus gland surgery earlier. TV5 Editor, Vijay Narayan, said, “The hospital authorities had told us he was doing fine until yesterday but was shifted to the ICU and put on ventilator support around 9.35 am this morning and declared that Manoj passed away.”
The editor added that his organisation will support and do the needful for the journalist’s family. Manoj got married in September 2019 and his wife is pregnant now. Manoj’s sister passed away a few years ago and he was looking after his sister’s kid as well.
