Operation Devi Shakti: India’s Evacuation Drive In Afghan

Published by

The government of India is carrying out a massive evacuation drive of Indians stuck in Afghanistan and the vulnerable locals. The center has named this program as Operation Devi Shakti. According to the sources, the name is chosen as this evacuation is an attempt to protect innocent citizens from violence just like Maa Durga saves the public from demons.

Apparently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed all the officials to look at the rescue operation as a humanitarian program and nothing else. The officials confirmed that not only the minorities like Hindus and Sikhs but various local Afghan people are also being evacuated under this mission.

On Tuesday, India brought back 78 people, which includes 25 of its citizens. Earlier this morning, External Affairs Minister of India, S. Jaishankar tweeted, “Op Devi Shakti continues. 78 evacuees from Kabul arrive via Dushanbe. Salute @IAF_MCC, @AirIndiain, and #TeamMEA for their untiring efforts. #DeviShakti.”

The Taliban seized control over Afghanistan on August 15. India has so far evacuated more than 800 people since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan. Nearly 200 more Afghan Sikhs and Hindus are still stranded in Afghanistan.
