Uttar Pradesh Caught Up With A Mysterious Deadly Fever

Published by

The western part of Uttar Pradesh has been caught up with a new mystery fever called Scrub Typhus. Many children in the district of Mathura have been affected by this disease.

According to Mathura Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rachna Gupta, 26 children have been diagnosed with this fever in Koh village. 14, 17, and three children have been tested with this fever in Ral, Jasoda, and Piproth villages respectively. Apparently, ten people, including eight children, have died due to this fever.

It is reported that many infections and deaths due to this fever are being reported in other districts of western UP like Mainpuri, Etah, Agra, Kasganj, and Firozabad.

As per the medical experts of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), scrub typhus (scrub typhus) is caused by a bacterium called Orientia Tsutsugamushi. The infection is spread to people through the bites of infected insects called chiggers.

The symptoms of infection generally begin after ten days of the bite. The symptoms include high fever, headache, runny nose, rashes, mood swings, enlarged lymph nodes, and body pains.

There is no vaccine for this fever yet. The doctors suggest not to travel in brushy areas where scrub typhus is very prevalent in plants and the other vegetation. It is also necessary to not stay in contact with the affected person.
