BCCI has just announced the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be held in the UAE. Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in the squad while the spin-duo Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been left out.
Senior opener Shikhar Dhawan and youngsters like Prithvi Shaw and Sanju Samson were also ignored in the selection. The big news is that the former Indian captain and 2007 T20 World Cup winner Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be the mentor for the Indian squad during this World Cup.
The squad is as follows: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami.
Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar have been named as the reserves of the squad.
The T20 World Cup kickstarts on October 17. The league is divided into Group stage, Super 12, Semi-Finals and Finals. India will play its first match against Pakistan on October 24.
Al Amerat, Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi will be hosting the matches. The final will be held on November 14th in Dubai.
