IPL: Harshal Patel Claims The First Hat-trick Of IPL 2021

Published by

There is no stopping for Harshal Patel in this season of the Indian Premier League. The medium-pacer of Royal Challengers Bangalore showed his prowess in the first leg held in India and continuing the same form in the ongoing second leg which is being held in the UAE.

In the process, Harshal has recorded the first hat-trick of IPL 2021. This special achievement came against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. He claimed the wickets of Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar to score a hat-trick.

RCB has scored a decent total of 165/6 in the first innings. Mumbai got a good opening partnership during the chase. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock made a partnership of 57 runs for the first wicket.

But once they departed, no one came for MI’s rescue. RCB’s bowlers never gave a chance for the MI batsmen to score runs.

When the required rate was going up, there was immense pressure on Pollard and Hardik. That’s when Harshal came to bowl the 17th over. Right on the first ball, he got the wicket of Hardik who gave a catch to Kohli. Pollard got bowled on the very next delivery. Immediately, Rahul Chahar came to bat and got out for the first ball with an LBW. Thus, Harshal claimed a hat-trick and ended Mumbai’s hopes of winning the match.

Harshal Patel claimed his first fifer against Mumbai Indians in the very first game of this season. Now, he claimed a hat-trick against the same team. He is also the purple cap holder with 23 wickets under his belt. In many ways, this season is turning out to be the best one for the medium pacer.
