Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many IT companies have asked their employees to work from home. With WFH, there is an equal number of advantages and disadvantages. But, the pros have definitely outweighed the cons and the most amazing thing to learn is, WFH jobs have made families spend time together, thereby, strengthening their bond like never before.
According to a survey conducted by the Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA), the families in Hyderabad are now happier with strong kin bonds compared to before the pandemic period.
Earlier, we all have to make converted efforts in carving out time to spend with families, but WFH has helped to save commute time, eat lunch together, cook together and have evening strolls together. In the survey with 500 respondents, 89% of them said that their relationship with the family and spouse has improved.
The global president of TITA, Sundeep Makthala said “The IT sector, according to NIMHANS, was among those that were seeing a high rate of divorce and discord. The WFH has given time to iron out many such issues”.
Those little and sweet gestures like a lot of unhurried good mornings and sharing a morning cup of coffee itself changes the perspective of the rest of the day. The survey also revealed that 48% of the IT professionals have rated their WFH experience as ‘excellent’. And nearly 52% of them claimed that they wouldn’t risk taking an onsite opportunity at this juncture.
The survey also tells that 90% of the companies had provided WFH opportunity to the employees. And 49% of the employees work 8-10 hours every day, and 28% of them work 10-12 hours every day. But, the survey also showcased the disadvantages and inevitable challenges of WFH like 29% of them listed internet connectivity as a major issue. 25% of them complained about power outages and 13% complaining about the distractions at home.
