Actors getting caught in the drug-racket cases has been becoming a norm these days. Last year, two prominent Kannada actresses were arrested for alleged connections with the drug peddlers. Just a few days back, 10 Tollywood celebrities were questioned by the officials in connection with the 2017 drug-racket case.
Now, yet another actor joined this list. Nigerian native Chekwume Malvin was arrested on drug peddling charges in Bengaluru. He was seen in Singham 2, Vishwaroopam and many other Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada movies.
As per the reports, the police are now questioning Malvin about his links in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
The 45-year-old actor is currently residing in India on a medical visa. He was arrested on September 27, while trying to sell drugs to customers in Bengaluru. The cops have recovered 15 grams of MDMA and 250 ML of hashish oil worth Rs 7.5 lakh from Malvin.
Apparently, Malvin was trained in the acting course at New York Film Academy Nigeria and Mumbai. He worked in popular Kannada films like Annabond and Paramatma. The cops stated that he has acted in a few Nigerian movies as well.
The police have arrested him under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The investigation is currently underway. More details are expected to be announced soon.
