Seven More Pak Cricket Players Tested COVID19 Positive

Published by

Among many biggies getting contracted with the novel coronavirus, Pakistani cricket team has been affected the most with a total of 10 players tested positive for covid19. After Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf and Haider Ali’s cases, today seven more Pakistan cricket team players have tested positive.

Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan and Wahab Riaz – All these seven players have been tested positive for COVID-19, confirms Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). It is said that all of these players have been tested as per the mandatory safety protocol ahead of Pakistan’s tour of England in August 2020. The trip is now looking bleak with these bunch of players testing positive.

While a few other players’ medical test results are awaited, even Pakistan team’s masseur Malang Ali has also tested positive for coronavirus. Amid the tension, Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Khan assured that the Pakistan team will go to England as per scheduled. “The tour is very much on track, the squad will depart as per schedule on 28th. Fortunately, all first-choice red-ball players, barring Rizwan, are negative, which means they can start training immediately after they are tested & given all clear when they arrive in the UK,” said PCB CEO Wasim Khan.

This August, Pakistan team is prepared to play a three-match Test series followed by as many T20Is in England. The players who are now tested positive for COVID-19 are asked to isolate at home and hopefully, will get back in the squad sooner or later. Before the tour, bowling coach Waqar Younis and veteran batsman Shoaib Malik will also be tested as a mandatory protocol.
