A private lab technician from Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh has died of Covid-19 on Monday but this has led to a huge uproar. Going into details, the deceased was working at Markapuram Area hospital for the last three months.
On June 26th, the youngster tested positive of the virus and was moved to an isolation ward in Prakasham district’s RIMS hospital. The facilities at this hospital were not adequate and he was worried that he was not getting proper treatment.
The deceased informed the same in the WhatsApp group of private lab technicians. He also said to his friends that he would probably die by Monday and as expected it happened and he breathed his last yesterday morning.
The death of the private lab technician sparked an outrage among his friends and all the technicians who were working at RIMS staged a protest. They demanded an ex-gratia of Rs 50 Lakhs to the kin of the deceased and also a job to one of their family members.
Well, AP has been making a lot of noise on the tests it is conducting but this case is different and it is all about the facilities and treatment being provided to the patients.
Government hospitals in the state and in the country still have a long way to go to win people’s trust.
