Dolo 650. The name needs no introduction in India. This paracetamol-tablet manufacturing company has become a go-to brand for people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dolo is an anti-fever medicine and is widely used in the country for many years. But the usage has raised up to another level during the pandemic.
According to the official reports, more than 350-crore Dolos were sold in India since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.
As per the date given by the research firm IQVIA, India sold about 7.5 crore strips of Dolo 650 in 2019, before the outbreak of the COVID-19. The annual sales of the medicine now spiked to 14.5 crore strips (217 crore tablets) in 2021.
Now, Dolo has become the second-most sold anti-fever and analgesic tablet in India with an annual turnover of Rs. 307 crore in 2021. GSK’s Calpol is just above Dolo in the first position with a turnover of Rs. 310 crore.
Dolo is also one of the most-googled medicines in our country. Since the outbreak of COVID in 2020, ‘Dolo 650’ was the most-searched keyword in Google with around 2 lakh searches. The search further peaked during the second wave in 2021. On the flip side, ‘Calpol 650’ was searched for around 40000 times on the internet.
