Harvard & MIT Sue US Immigration For Foreign Students Guidelines

Trump administration’s recent decision through DHS and US, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to deport the foreign students back to their home countries if they choose to pursue their courses in ‘online only’ universities or if they do not apply for a different university that offers in-person education, has not gone well all over.

Two major US universities, Harvard and the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) filed a lawsuit in the District Court in Boston against DHS and US ICE, challenging the decision on foreign students.

The lawsuit filed seeks a temporary restraining order and preliminary and permanent injunctive relief to bar the DHS and ICE from enforcing federal guidelines barring international students attending colleges that offer only online courses from their stay in the US.

The DHS and ICE guidelines about international students came out just hours after Harvard announced to have not more than 40 percent of undergraduates and would go for online classes in the fall.
