The long-lasting conflict between Russia and Ukraine is getting intense for the last few days. Russian Army has been deploying massive troops and military equipment along the border with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the fate of around 200 students who hail from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, is in question now, amidst these high tensions. Most of them do not want their academic careers to be spoiled by this conflict.
Speaking to the Times of India, Sohail Mohammed, who hails from Motinagar said that he doesn’t know what is in store for the students who are studying in Ukraine. “We do not want our studies to be disturbed. We have been intimated that our next semester will start on February 1,” he said. Sohail is pursuing his third year of study in Ukraine.
All the Indian students were asked to fill up the forms by the Indian embassy in Ukraine. They have registered themselves with the embassy. They were asked to provide details like name, gender, age, passport number, location in Ukraine, and their residing state in India. The embassy promised the students that they would be flown out of Ukraine if the situation gets worsened.
There are nearly 18000 Indian students studying in Ukraine across various medical and engineering universities, states the Indian embassy website.
The students said that the situation is normal now but they don’t know how it turns out in the coming days. They don’t want to get their academic careers to be spoiled because they have spent a lot of money to pursue education in Ukraine.
