A 19-year-old boy’s midnight run from his work to home is highly inspiring. The boy’s dream is to join the Indian army. Even when he was repeatedly offered a ‘lift’/ free ride home at around 12 am, the boy gently declined.
This incident happened near the national capital New Delhi and the video was filmed by filmmaker Vinod Kapri. The boy in question is Pradeep Mehra who works at McDonald’s at Noida’s Sector 16. Pradeep, who is originally from Uttarakhand, lives with his brother at a home in Barola while his mother is hospitalized due to sickness.
Filmmaker Vinod Kapir spotted Pradeep running on the street after his shift at McDonalds. In the clip, Vinod has repeatedly offered a free ride home to Pradeep who gently turned down. When asked why he was running, Pradeep said he would like to join the Indian army and he doesn’t get time in the mornings for running.
He said he would go back home and cook for himself and his brother. Vinod had also offered him food, but Pradeep gently refused. Pradeep said his brother was “left alone” if he eats the food. He also added that he has to cook food for his brother who works in the night shift.
The video has gone viral as soon as Vinod shared it online on Sunday evening and the video garnered over 3.8 million views, crossed 153,000 likes within 12 hours, and began trending on Twitter.
In the video, Kapri was seen telling Pradeep that this clip is going to go viral. “Who’s going to recognise me?” laughs the runner in response. “If it goes viral, it’s okay, it’s not like I am doing anything wrong,” Pradeep replied.
