Last night the world’s prestigious university, Oxford, made it’s first breath through in the Corona virus vaccine as it showed positive results in the preliminary trails it performed. The University of Oxford is working with the UK-based global biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in development of the vaccine and the scientists at this university, informed that they would soon begin trials in India too.
For this trials, Oxford has picked up Pune based Serum Institute of India (SII) and Oxford vaccine team has been in collaboration with the SII from the beginning and once the vaccine is developed with all the approvals, SII would help in large scale manufacturing of the vaccine.
The people at SII informed that they would apply for concerned licences for the clinical trials in a week’s time and Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has the authority to grant licence and permit for clinical trials.
Overall, Oxford university is moving in the right direction of vaccine development but the scientists believe that there is still a long way to go. But the first step is laid and it is successive.
