The world’s best T20 league is going to end after providing entertainment for almost 70 days. IPL 2022 started off on March 26 with 10 teams participating in the league stage. The final of this season will be held tonight at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will take on each other in this mega finale.
Gujarat Titans is one of the two new teams that were introduced in this edition. Led by Hardik Pandya, this team showed dominance throughout the tournament. It won 10 out of its 14 league games and claimed the top spot on the points table. It has defeated Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 1 a few days ago. With sheer dominance, GT entered the finals.
On the flip side, Rajasthan Royals stood in the second position of the points table with 9 wins in the league stage. It was defeated by Gujarat in Qualifier 1 but it came back strong and thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2.
The tournament’s highest run-scorer (Jos Buttler – 824 runs) and joint highest wicket-taker (Yuzvendra Chahal – 26 wickets) are from this team.
RR has qualified for the finals after 14 years. The last time this team went to the finals was in the inaugural season of 2008. It won the trophy in that season under the leadership of Shane Warne. Now, the team is aiming to give a tribute to the legend by winning this season.
On the other side, if GT wins the trophy, it creates history by winning the IPL trophy right in its maiden season. On the whole, a cracker of a final is in the store for us.
