Ex Cricketer & Up Minister Dies Of Corona

Indian cricket’s former captain, then opening batsman, two-time Lok Sabha MP Chetan Chauhan has succumbed to the corona virus. Chtean was 73. He had been suffering from Covid that raised his other complications. Due to multi-organ failure, Chetan died today at a hospital in Gurgaon.

Chetan had tested positive for Covid in July. Since then he had been fighting. At a time when everyone expected that he would recover completely, an infection affected his kidneys and also affected the blood pressure. On Friday night, Chautan’s health condition further deteriorated and he was on life support till he breathed his last today.

Chauhan was elected twice to Lok Sabha in 1991 and 1998 from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha constituency. He was conferred with the prestigious Arjuna Award in 1981 for his outstanding contribution to cricket.

Chetan Chauhan was popular for his opening partnership with Sunil Gavaskar in tests. The duo’s partnership was much revered as they scored over 3000 runs partnership including 12 partnership centuries. Chetan was also a great cricket administrator.

He served as the manager of Indian cricket team during the Australia tour. He also held positions of president, vice-president, secretary, chief-selector for Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA).
